If keen to try acupuncture the first step is to contact Jo, on 07896886167 or hello@drjatravers.co.uk

  • Acupuncture can only be carried out by a veterinary surgeon who has undergone extra training in the field.
  • As a veterinary surgeon but not necessarily your pets primary vet it is an ethical requirements and also very helpful to submit a referral form to allow access to any relevant clinical history that may be important to know and help to treat your pet in the best possible way.
  • Upon enquiring about an appointment, Jo will send you a referral form to give to your primary vet. While this is not essential it would be helpful for me to have the full history of your pet.
  • Once received and the appointment booked - Jo will come to your home at the decided time and day.
  • It is important that you can provide a calm and relaxed area to carry out the treatment, what often helps is a specific blanket or towel that over time your pet may associate with the treatment, and help them to relax.
  • The appointment length can vary, on the first appointment there will be a consent form to complete, following a full discussion on the treatment planned. It is best to leave at least an hour, possibly two.

It is best to think of acupuncture as given in a doseage and the effects can accumulate over multiple sessions. As a general rule it can take up to 4 sessions before it can be certain whether your pet is or isnt a responder.
